Understanding MIPS Measures and Measure MCIDs

Each assessment’s Minimal Clinically Important Difference (MCID) is shown below.

 


The achievement of the MCID is used to indicate patient progression, and for each measure, a progression rate is calculated indicating the percentage of patients who met the MCID. The progression rate is then compared to a benchmark calculated annually and informs providers’ MIPS Quality reporting scores.


It is important to note that PROMIS uses a decile scale vs. a whole number scale which means a 2-point change on PROMIS may correlate to a 6-10-point change on a legacy measure.
